{"id":2543,"date":"2021-09-27T02:51:29","date_gmt":"2021-09-27T02:51:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/afiresearch.rmit.edu.au\/?p=2543"},"modified":"2021-09-27T02:51:58","modified_gmt":"2021-09-27T02:51:58","slug":"afi-research-collection-fellowship-winner-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/afiresearch.rmit.edu.au\/?p=2543","title":{"rendered":"AFI RC Fellowship winner announced"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The 2021 AFI Research Collection Fellowship has been awarded to <strong>James Findlay.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"396\" height=\"373\" src=\"https:\/\/afiresearch.rmit.edu.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/JF-Headshot.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2545\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>James Finlay\u2019s project&nbsp;is&nbsp;titled&nbsp;\u2018Framing the frontier: Australian settler colonialism on television after 1970\u2019.&nbsp;The&nbsp;frontier is one of the most pervasive concepts&nbsp;in&nbsp;the production of national identity.&nbsp;&nbsp;This project will&nbsp;study&nbsp;representations of the&nbsp;frontier&nbsp;over the last fifty years to&nbsp;produce new&nbsp;knowledge about the ways&nbsp;it&nbsp;has been imagined on Australian screens, and how&nbsp;television has&nbsp;ascribed&nbsp;meaning&nbsp;for audiences&nbsp;to the processes and outcomes of settler&nbsp;colonialism.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In administering the&nbsp;award,&nbsp;the AFI Research Collection would like to thank:&nbsp;the&nbsp;AFI Research Collection Fellowship Advisory Committee,&nbsp;RMIT&nbsp;Culture and the Screen and Sound Cultures Research Group.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2021 AFI Research Collection Fellowship has been awarded to James Findlay.
